CAMDA, a community-wide experiment of microarray data analysis, calls for your participation in 2001. Besides the Call for Review Articles, we are inviting original papers to analyze the CAMDA 2001 data sets. All submissions must follow these rules:
- The data set to be analyzed is from the CAMDA 2001 data set(s).
- The analyzer agrees to make the analytical results and procedures publicly available. The disclosure of the analytical code or executables can be either in the form of commercial software, shareware or freeware.
- All abstracts submitted for presentation at CAMDA must be previously unpublished original work.
- You will be required to sign a copyright release for the final paper for publication in the proceedings book. If we are unable to obtain a publisher, your copyright will be returned to you to use for your own publication purposes.
- You are, however, allowed to present your work at other conferences, but no other publication of your material is allowed.

Paper Submission Format
Extended abstracts (no more than 3 pages) should follow the ACM proceedings format (http://www.acm.org/sigs/pubs/proceed/template.html) on 8 1/2" x 11" paper. Please include key results, figures, and tables in the extended abstract where appropriate. A cover page (template in Word format) should be accompanied with the abstract submission.
The deadline for submission is Aug. 22, 2001. All submissions should be emailed to camda@mc.duke.edu.
All authors will have an opportunity to update and revise their manuscripts after the conference. Final papers to be published in the CAMDA 2001 proceedings will be due Dec. 15, 2001
Presentation Format
Accepted papers will be invited for poster or oral presentation in the CAMDA 2001 conference. The authors will be notified by Sept. 17, 2001.
Poster presentation: The size of the poster board will be announced later.
Oral presentation: The time allocated for each presentation will be 25 minutes followed by 10 minutes of questions and answers.
CAMDA Paper/Presentation Guideline
In contrast to the KDD-cup 2001 contest, where no detailed knowledge of biology is necessary in the submission, the CAMDA challenge encourages and emphasizes discussions of biological relevance in additional to the data mining methodology. The submitted contributions are encouraged to include:
- The proposed analytical objective (problems to be solved).
- A brief summary of the analytical effort (how to solve the problem).
This may include the data preprocessing tasks such as data normalization, and data extraction, data mining steps and algorithms used, as well as the evaluation criteria.
- Interpretation of results and presentation of discoveries.
This will help to present an easier framework for comparisons of different approaches.
- Discussion of the merits, assumptions, and limitations of your approach
- Conclusions
Call for Reviews
CAMDA, a community-wide experiment, calls for your participation. CAMDA 2000 was held at Duke University Medical Center on December 19, 20, 2000. Fourteen papers were presented and an additional 16 papers were presented as posters. We are inviting reviews of the papers in CAMDA 2000 and reviews of the current state of the art in microarray data analysis. These reviews are not limited to CAMDA submissions only and should provide an overall view of microarray analysis. Selected reviews will be published in the conference proceedings and invited for an oral presentation at CAMDA 2001.
Topics for the review will include, but are not limited to:
- Experimental design
- Data Normalization
- Data Visualization
- Pattern Recognition
- Algorithm development
The submission deadline is July 1, 2001. Prospective authors are encouraged to send a one-page abstract to camda@mc.duke.edu. Abstracts for CAMDA 2000 papers are available at www.camda.duke.edu. If your abstract is accepted, you will be provided with full papers for review.
Questions concerning the CAMDA 01 Call for Papers should be directed to: camda@mc.duke.edu.
